Jamestown College junior John Peabody was named to the NAIA Division II men’s basketball Scholar Athlete list.
Peabody was also a second-team all-DAC selection this season. The 6-foot-8 center led the Jimmies in scoring (12.35 ppg) and rebounding (8.3 rpg) despite missing several games with mono.
He ranked among the league leaders in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage (58.0) and blocked shots per game (0.83) in his first season as a starter.
"John is an exceptional student-athlete," Jimmies coach Jeff Trumbauer said. "He has excelled both on the court and in the classroom and we are proud of what he has accomplished thus far."
To be eligible for the award, an athlete must be at least a junior in eligibilty with a grade-point average of 3.50 or above.
