The Jamestown College track teams travel to Madison, S.D., on Saturday for their outdoor season opener.
But on Friday, the Jimmies were spending their time helping fight flooding in Valley City.
"The majority of our team has been in Valley City all day today filling sandbags," JC women’s track coach Jim Clark said. "So we’ll see how much energy we have left."
The Jimmies are scheduled to compete against Dakota State, Dordt (Iowa) and Northwestern (Iowa) on Saturday. But workouts took a back seat to helping battle Mother Nature.
"We have been luckier than some teams around here, but our kids have done a great job of responding when someone asks for help," Clark said.
