Richland all-stater signs with JC basketball

Jacob Erbes of Colfax has signed a Dakota Athletic Conference letter of intent to play basketball at Jamestown College.

Erbes, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound forward, averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds as a senior for Richland High School.

He was a two-time all-district and two-time all-Wild Rice Conference selection for the Colts. He was named District 2 Senior Athlete of the Year and was selected to the North Dakota Class B all-state second team.

"Jacob Erbes is a winner," Jimmie men’s basketball coach Jeff Trumbauer said. "He has worked hard to become the athlete he is and will continue to improve. He has good size and strength and is an excellent rebounder and a natural basket-maker."

Erbes has also signed to play football for the Jimmies. A star at wide receiver for the Colts, he will join his brother Dustin this fall on the JC football team.

  1. Hey Scott…I may have missed this, but I don’t see Jake Bauer’s name on the Men’s Basketball roster anymore. Is he going to transfer somewhere? And what’s the status with Evan Savageau and Seth Gravesen? I thought they showed some great promise at the start of the season. Will they be back at all?

  2. I’m not sure about Jake Bauer. His name still is listed on the golf roster, assuming the golf season ever resumes this spring. Savageau was starting early in the season but left the team early on. Not sure about Gravesen. I’ll check with coach Trumbauer the next time I talk to him, but the fact that they’re no longer on the roster seems to say they won’t be back with the team in the fall.

  3. I saw that too…just thought there might be something there. Thanks for the insights!
