JC women’s soccer adds Fargo goalkeeper

Taylor Bush of Fargo has signed a Dakota Athletic Conference letter of intent to play soccer at Jamestown College.

A senior goalkeeper for Fargo South, Bush is a two-year letter winner and helped the Bruins to the 2008 East Region title and a state championship. She plays club soccer for the Red River Soccer Club, which won State Cup titles in 2006 and 2007.

"We are excited that Taylor has decided to continue her soccer career at Jamestown College," said JC soccer coach Phillip Bohn. "Coming from high school and club soccer programs that have achieved great success, she has an understanding of what it takes to get there."

Hafner goes on DL

The Cleveland Indians placed designated hitter Travis Hafner on the disabled list on Wednesday.

The Sykeston native has been slowed by soreness in his right shoulder. Hafner had offseason surgery on that shoulder after injuries limited him to just 57 games last season for the Tribe.

“He’s been having some soreness and a little fatigue,” manager Eric Wedge told the Associated Press. “We’ve noticed it in his swing the last three or four days. We don’t think it’s anything serious.”

Hafner is hitting .270 with four homers and eight RBI in 17 games so far in 2009.

He will see Dr. James Andrews next week in Alabama. Andrews performed the offseason surgery on the shoulder.

DAC tournament pairings set

The pairings are set for the Dakota Athletic Conference baseball and softball tournaments.

The baseball tournament will be held Friday-Sunday in Minot, and the softball tournament is set for Saturday and Sunday in Dickinson.

Dickinson State is the top seed for both tournaments, and Jamestown College is the No. 2 seed in both.

The conference tournament champions automatically qualify for the NAIA national tournament.
