Midgets down Firebirds

Cole Frenzel homered Dickinson banged out 14 hits in a 10-4 win over Devils Lake in the third quarterfinal game at Jack Brown Stadium.

Tommy Peters went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored to lead Dickinson. Frenzel, Caleb Burgard, Stephen Laylock, Ross Kovacs and Connor McNeilly added two hits each for the Midgets.

Devils Lake scored first, getting a three-run home run from Jared Schmidt in the bottom of the first inning.

Dickinson scored single runs in the first and second innings before a six-run bottom of the third broke it open.

The game featured 56 minutes worth of weather delays, including a 43-minute stoppage for lightning with two outs in the top of the seventh inning.
