Hermes resigns as LaMoure football coach

Greg Hermes has resigned after 28 seasons with the LaMoure football program.
Hermes led the Loboes to a state title in 1991 and to numerous regional titles and state semifinal appearances.
“Greg has done an outstanding job for our program,” LaMoure athletic director Joel Bickford said. “He is an excellent coach, teacher, mentor and counselor. We certainly owe him a great amount of gratitude as he has sacrificed time from other things in order to elevate our team to an elite status. We were fortunate to have him for the time we did.”
Hermes will remain as a counselor in the LaMoure school system.
“Men of his caliber aren’t replaced. We will just have to fill the void and hope for the best. He is an institution. We wish him all the best … and we thank Greg, the ‘Father’ of Loboe football.”
Bickford will take over as head coach this fall. He led Wahpeton to an East Region title and a state runner-up finish in 1997.
