South beats Jays for soccer crown

Fargo South scored twice in each half en route to a 4-0 win over Jamestown in the state soccer championship game on Saturday at Fargo North High School.

Freshman Lexi Maucort scored both first-half goals for the Bruins, who wore down the Jays with their speed and superior numbers.

Morgan Dale, Kaitlin Walsh and Jenae Dabill were named to the all-tournament team for the Blue Jays, who finished the season at 7-5-1 and advanced to the title game for the first time in school history in soccer. It was also the first time a JHS team had been in a state championship game in any sport since 1994.

Jamestown keeper Erin Sand was peppered with 16 shots, stopping 12.
