JC baseball signs California standout

Jesse Ramirez of Santa Fe, Calif., has signed a Dakota Athletic Conference Letter of Intent to attend Jamestown College and play baseball for the Jimmies.

Rodriguez, who spent last season at the University of Dubuque, played outfield and catcher for the Spartans, hitting .374 with two home runs, 22 RBIs, 20 runs scored and an on-base percentage of .475 in 99 at bats. He was named the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week April 12 after hitting .611 with two home runs, 10 RBIs and two doubles in a five-game stretch for the Spartans. He had hits in 15 of the team’s 21 games and 10 multiple-hit efforts.

“We are very fortunate to add a player like Jesse to our baseball program,” said JC coach Tom Hager. “He is a quality student-athlete and will be a great fit for not only our baseball program, but also for Jamestown College. Jesse has already experienced success at the college level and we feel he will continue to do great things in a Jimmie uniform.”
