Jays roll past Knights

Jamestown scored first and never trailed in an impressive 23-13 victory over Grand Forks Central Friday night at Cushman Field
The Blue Jays piled up 365 yards of offense and bottled up the high-scoring Knights. Central came in averaging 34 points per game, but were held to 13, the last seven coming in garbage time with the deal already sealed.
Jordan Piatz had another big game, catching nine balls for 156 yards and a touchdown. He also had an interception, sack and tackle for loss for the Jays, who sacked Central quarterback Brady Johnson six times in the game.
Andy Bjugstad, Nick Erickson, Shane Gallagher, Alex Looysen and Johnny Schmitz also had sacks for the Jays, who improved to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the East. Brian Sinner had a second-quarter interception that snuffed out a Central drive and set up Benke’s field goal.
Brandon Gange (63), Walker (39) and Bangs (31) each had over 30 yards rushing. One of the few dark spots was eight penalties for 80 yards.
