Allmer places 4th at state XC meet

Jamestown High School freshman Alison Allmer closed out her season in style with an impressive fourth-place finish at the state cross country meet in Valley City on Saturday.

Allmer, who started the season slow due to an illness, placed fourth in the crowded Class A field in a sparkling time of 15:06.10 on a cool damp day at Bjornson Golf Course.

It was the second-best finish for a JHS runner this decade. Melissa Falk earned runner-up honors in 2000.

"She ran a great race," coach Ken Gardner said. "She started out fast and maintained her pace the entire race. She was able to break up that group of Bismarck girls.

"Finishing fourth at the state meet is a great way to end the season."

Spencer Kamoni led the JHS boys. The senior earned all-state honors by placing 14th (16:38.89).

"We’re happy for Spencer to earn all-state in his senior season," Gardner said.
