Thursday night wrap

Busy night in Jamestown and beyond. Here are the highlights, abridged as they may be.

-The Jimmie women’s basketball team fell to UND 86-56 in an exhibition contest. Kellie Schuneman and Katie O’Neill had 11 points each for the No. 6-ranked Jimmies (2-0). Krista Shaikoski and Allison Epping added nine each off the bench. The Jimmies host a big early-season tilt Nov. 6 against No. 2 Northwestern, a Final Four team from last year. The two teams met last year with the Jimmies winning 85-81.

-The Jimmie men take on Lakehead University tonight at 8 p.m., at the Civic Center in their season-opener. They were picked third in the DAC and have, according to coach Jeff Trumbauer, depth, size and skill, which is a nice place to start.

-The JHS volleyball team fell to Century 3-1. The Jays won the opening frame, but the defending Class A champion Patriots rallied back to win the final three sets.

-The JC volleyball team can clinch their first DAC title since 1991 tonight at home against Dickinson State. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Hansen Center.
