The Jamestown College basketball teams came away with a split in their Dakota Athletic Conference opener on Friday night in Dickinson.
The 6th-ranked Jimmie women rallied from a 15-point second-half deficit to defeat 25th-ranked DSU 78-68. Giuli Varriano finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Cori Doubek had 12 points and Amanda Rantapaa and Allison Epping each had 11.
The Jimmie men fell just short of a win in their conference opener as Dickinson State hung on for a 70-67 overtime victory. Two Nathan Lebsock free throws with 9 seconds left sealed the win for the Blue Hawks. Hans Hoeg had 23 points and C.J. Peeters finished with 16 points and seven rebounds.
The Jimmies travel to Minot State on Saturday.
