Former Jamestown College football coach Tom Dosch is one of four finalists for the head football coaching position at Northern State in Aberdeen, S.D.
Dosch has spent the last two seasons as inside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator at Southern Illinois in Cardondale, Ill., working on a staff with former UND head coach Dale Lennon.
The Salukis went 11-2 and finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in The Sports Network Football Championship Subdivision poll. SIU beat Eastern Illinois 48-7 in the opening round of the playoffs before losing 24-3 to William & Mary in the quarterfinals.
Dosch was on Lennon’s staff in 2001 when the Fighting Sioux won the NCAA Division II national title. He was head coach at Jamestown College for four seasons, leading the Jimmies to a 25-17 record, back-to-back NAIA playoff berths in 2006 and 2007 and a share of the Dakota Athletic Conference title in 2007. It was the school’s first conference title in nine years.
The other finalists are Matt Entz, assistant head coach and co-defensive coordinator at Winona State (Minn.), Mike Aldrich, defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator at Augustana (S.D.) and Luke Meadows, associate head coach and offensive coordinator at South Dakota State.
The Wolves, who play in the NCAA Division II Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, are looking for a new head coach after Chris Boden was let go after a 2-9 season in 2009.
