Short and sweet with the nightly wrap-up, mercifully.
The Blue Jays were tied 2-2 with Mandan Thursday night early in the period in West Region hockey action. Looked tight, right? Nope.
The Braves scored the next seven goals and won 9-2.
Goals for the Jays were from Nick Jensen and Andrew Yatskis.
Everyone but big Bryan Kielpinski got on the board for the Braves.
Wrestling-wise, Carrington topped the Jays 46-18.
The Cardinals are 7-1 in duals and one of the top teams in Class B.
Landon Swangler, Shane Gallagher and David Birrenkott each had pins for the Blue Jays, but that was all the wins for JHS.
Otherwise, it was all Carrington.
I have noting futher at this point, so good night.
Former Jamestown College coach Tom Dosch is the new head football coach at Northern State University.
Dosch has spent the last two seasons as linebackers coach and special teams coordinator at Southern Illinois University, working on a staff with former UND head coach Dale Lennon. Southern Illinois qualified for the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision playoffs both those years.
NSU President James Smith says Dosch’s coaching experience and success in area recruiting make him a perfect fit for the position.
Dosch becomes the 26th head coach in NSU’s 107-year football history.
Dosch compiled a 25-17 record in four seasons at Jamestown College , leading the Jimmies to back-to-back NAIA playoff berths in the 2006 and ’07 seasons and a share of the Dakota Athletic Conference title in 2007. It was the school’s first conference title in nine years and they finished the season ranked No. 6 in the NAIA.
Northern State, which plays in the NCAA Division II Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, fired Chris Boden after going 2-9 last season.
