Whitney Carlson continues to re-write the NDSU track and field record books.
The junior standout from Kensal set a new school record in the heptathlon on Thursday at the Mt. SAC Combined Events in Azusa, Calif.
Carlson won the 100 hurdles and 200 en route to a total of 5,343 points, beating the old mark of 5,294 of Andi Noel, which had stood since 2001. She finished fifth in the event, which features a loaded field of Division I athletes and professional track and field performers.
It’s the first outdoor record for Carlson, who starred for Carrington in high school track.
She owns the top marks in the 100, 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles and long jump.
She also owns the school record in the pentathlon.
Carlson competes in the 400 hurdles today in Azusa.
